If you're a wedding vendor waiting for enquiries to come in, the first question to ask is: how do couples actually find businesses like yours?
The answer is almost never a referral app or a directory they bookmarked. It's a search.
What couples actually type
When a couple in Ahmedabad starts looking for a wedding photographer, they don't search for your name — they search for things like:
- wedding photographer Ahmedabad
- candid photography for wedding Surat
- best caterer for Gujarati wedding
They start with a service and a city. Then they look at photos. Then they check pricing context. Then — if everything looks right — they send an enquiry.
This is the journey your listing needs to support.
Why your listing is your first impression
By the time a couple reaches out to you, they've already decided you're worth contacting. They've seen your photos, read your description, and formed an opinion.
That means your listing does the selling before you say a word. A weak listing — blurry photos, vague description, no pricing context — means couples move on before they even consider reaching out.
What a strong listing actually needs
Photos that look like your real work
This is the single biggest factor. Couples make snap judgements based on your cover image. If your first photo doesn't look professional and warm, they move on.
Upload photos from real weddings you've worked on. Avoid stock images, heavily filtered shots, or photos that don't represent your typical output.
A title that explains what you do
"Rahul Photography" tells a couple nothing. "Candid Wedding Photography — Ahmedabad & Surat" tells them exactly what you offer and where.
Your listing title should include your primary service and your main coverage area.
Pricing context — not a fixed price
Couples don't expect an exact number. They want a sense of whether you're in their range before reaching out. Something like "packages starting from ₹40,000" or "pricing depends on number of days and coverage — contact for a custom quote" is enough.
Saying nothing about price forces couples to contact you just to find out if they can afford you. Many won't bother.
A description written for couples, not search engines
Explain who you are, what makes your work distinct, how you work on a wedding day, and what couples can expect when they enquire. Write like you're talking to someone — not stuffing in keywords.
An accurate service area
If you're based in Gandhinagar but cover Ahmedabad, Anand, and Vadodara — say so. Couples filter by location. If your service area isn't set correctly, you won't appear for the cities you actually serve.
The shortlist moment
Here's something most vendors don't think about: couples typically shortlist 3–5 vendors before reaching out to any of them.
That means even if a couple finds you, they're comparing you to others before they decide to contact you. Your listing isn't competing with a blank page — it's competing with other vendors in the same category.
A complete, honest, well-photographed listing wins that comparison far more often than a sparse one.
What to do today
- Replace any placeholder or stock photos with real event photos
- Rewrite your listing title to include your service and coverage city
- Add a pricing note — even a rough range helps
- Set your service area to every city you genuinely serve
- Read your description out loud — if it sounds like marketing copy, rewrite it as a conversation
Your listing is working for you even when you're not. Make sure it's saying the right things.
